Emmy award winner Regina King barely avoided a major collision with an NBA All-Star.
Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid nearly knocked over King while going into the stands for a loose ball during the Knicks’ 126-111 blowout loss Wednesday night at the Garden. The actress got hit a bit on the head, but it could have been much worse.
King was grateful she avoided what would have been an ugly collision, tweeting: “Yoooo. Thank you God and @JoelEmbiid for your athletic abilities. Crisis averted” 🙏🏾
Unfortunately an MSG Networks statistician Dave Fried seated next to play-by-play man Mike Breen, wasn’t so lucky, catching the brunt of Embiid’s momentum. He got up, but must be a bit sore.
Regina King received the honor for lead actress in a limited series or movie for her role in “Seven Seconds.” She is also nominated for an Oscar in the best supporting actress category for her performance in “If Beale Street Could Talk.”
As for Embiid, he lit up the Knicks, scoring 26 points and grabbing 14 rebounds in the Sixers’ win.
